I am a progressive liberal

I am not what those words have become, regressive authoritarian. 

I filter everything through my desire to see the progress of all people of every nation flourish through the liberation of every individual. 

Progress stems from unleashing the individual genius of the masses through the enforcement of contracts and the protection of their liberty.

• The opposite of progress is when we allow an elite few to mandate things through the illusion of their elevated brilliance. For more on this, see the post: “I believe in us.”

To be a liberal is to believe in the supremacy of individual liberty > control.  Words mean things. People can believe in the power of control, that's fine, but you don't get to call your control liberty anymore.

• The opposite of liberal is this insatiable movement with an unelected and ever increasingly unaccountable bureaucracy telling us what to do more and more.

I understand that those who pursue these controls do so with a good heart and good intentions… but they are not liberal pursuits. They simply are not. Defend the rational all you would like, for there is at least momentary utility in some. But we must all awaken from the upside-down where we allow the banner of liberal to fly over that which is specifically, intimately, and in great detail, its total opposite. 

I love liberty. I love progress.

I am a progressive liberal.
